In a distressing turn of events, the serene streets of Islamabad, known for their tranquility, have been besieged by the cacophony of motorcycles withoutsilencers, causing an unprecedented rise in noise pollution. Citizens are now enduring the adverse effects of this auditory assault, which is not only disrupting their peace but also posing serious threats to their mental and psychological well-being.

The Federal capital’s once-peaceful ambiance has been marred by the incessant roar of motorcycles without silencers, inflicting misery upon its resi-dents. The alarming surge in these unruly vehicles has pushed noise pollution levels to extreme heights, exacerbating health issues and eroding the quality of life for Islamabad’s populace. Citizens, particularly patients, students, and senior citizens, find themselves disproportionately affected by this onslaught of noise pollution.

The relentless cacophony disrupts their daily routines, exacerbatng their existing health conditions and hindering their ability to lead peaceful lives. Adding to the chaos is the rampant flouting of traffic regulations, with many young riders taking to the streets without proper licenses. Despite this flagrant violation of the law, traffic wardens remain passive observers, focusing their attention solely on enforcing helmet regulations rather than addressing the root cause of the issue.

During the holy month of Ramadan, the situation escalates further as reckless riders engage in dangerous stunts like one-wheeling, particularly in areas like Zero Point. These brazen displays of disregard for public safety not only endanger lives but also contribute to the overall sense of lawlessness on Islamabad’s streets. In response to these grievances, concerned citizens have appealed to the Inspector General of Islamabad for immediate and decisive action.—INP
