Govt Announces New Winter Season Office Timings Two Holidays Per Week

QUETTA –  The Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments have yet to announce winter season office timings and schedule for weekly holidays.

The timings of the educational institutions are also changed with the arrival of the new season.

However, the Balochistan government has announced winter season office timings as well as the weekly holidays schedule, so the employees and public could know and follow the revised schedule and duration of the working hours.

It is the most likely that the provincial governents in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will issue a similar schedule for the public servants and employees.

According to the latest reports, new new schedule will be effective from October 15, 2026, and will remain in force until April 14, 2027 during the winter season.

According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, the government offices will remain open from 8:30am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday.

A break for prayers and lunch will be observed from 1:30pm to 2pm.

On Fridays, offices will operate from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a break from 1:15pm to 2:15pm for Friday prayers and lunch.

Under the new schedule, government offices will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays, giving employees two weekly holidays.

The notification clarified that the revised winter timings would not apply to hospitals and educational institutions. Universities, colleges and schools will continue to follow their existing schedules.

However, attached offices of the Health and Education departments will operate on a six-day working week. These offices will function from 8:30am to 2:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, while Friday timings will be from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

The Balochistan government said the revised timings had been introduced to align the working hours of government offices with winter weather conditions.
