Scotland’s Robert Gordon University (RGU) and the University of Health Sciences (UHS) have agreed to advance a broader academic partnership focused on research, faculty development and international exchanges.
The understanding was reached during a meeting at UHS chaired by Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (retd) Prof Sohail Sabir and attended by an RGU delegation led by Dr Julie Jones, Associate Dean, School of Health Sciences, and Hassan Latif Khan, Regional Lead for Pakistan and Central Asia.
Prof Sohail Sabir proposed joint international conferences, a Master Trainers Programme for UHS faculty and access to RGU’s digital library and academic resources.
The proposed collaboration includes curriculum benchmarking, joint research, workshops, postgraduate supervision, professional courses, faculty and student exchanges and simulation-based education.
The two universities have also discussed cooperation in nursing and physical therapy, including curriculum development, simulation facilities and research into neurological rehabilitation, gait analysis and Parkinson’s disease.
Dr Julie Jones said the talks had progressed towards a formal institutional arrangement, with an MoU expected to be signed during the RGU vice chancellor’s visit to Pakistan next month.
Both sides agreed to continue technical discussions and develop an implementation roadmap for sustained cooperation between UHS Lahore and RGU Aberdeen.
