A special ceremony titled “Masiha” was held at the National Press Club (NPC), Islamabad, in honor of Dr. Jamal Nasir, former Provincial Minister for Primary & Secondary Healthcare and Population Welfare, Punjab, and a renowned physician and social worker. The event was jointly organized by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (Dastoor), and the National Press Club. It was attended by a large number of senior journalists, office-bearers of media organizations, and prominent political and social personalities.

On the occasion, the National Press Club and City Lab signed a memorandum of understanding under which NPC members, staff, and their immediate family members will receive 50% discount on a wide range of laboratory tests and 40% discount on radiology services. According to NPC Secretary Dr. Furqan Rao, nearly 3,349 members will benefit from this facility.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Jamal Nasir said journalism remains one of the most underprivileged professions, as journalists consistently fight for the rights of others while often facing challenges in securing their own. He expressed gratitude for the affection and respect he has always received from the journalistic community and noted that his association with Rawalpindi’s politics, journalism, and public service spans several decades. He further stated that during his tenure as a provincial minister, he never used public office or government resources for personal benefit and always remained committed to his principles.

National Press Club President Abdul Razzaq Sial paid tribute to Dr. Jamal Nasir’s outstanding contributions to healthcare, social welfare, and humanitarian service. He also proposed organizing health awareness seminars and medical camps for journalists in collaboration with City Lab.
