Iran claimed on Friday that it had targeted two oil tankers attempting to transit Strait of Hormuz under US military “air escort.”
According to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the vessels failed to comply with its directives and were hit, forcing them to stop.
IRGC stated that four other tankers reversed course and returned to their previous locations after the incident.
The Guards further claimed that the two tankers had tried to navigate the strait through an “undeclared route” supported by the United States, rather than using the shipping lane designated by Tehran closer to Iran’s coastline.
