Bilawal urges PTI to renounce extremism, return to democratic fold

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to renounce extremism and return to the democratic fold.

Talking to the newsmen in Larkana on Sunday, he warned that attacks on state institutions over leaders’ arrests have consequences.

“Do away with political extremism and return to the democratic fold. This will be better not only for their party but also their workers, he stated, adding that the PPP was against the imposition of a ban on political parties.

Bilawal said that parties should find political solutions for the survival of democracy. “If a party resorts to extremist politics, it should not complain about a strict response, he said while ruling out the possibilities of early elections.

He stressed the need for electoral reforms before the next elections, saying such reforms should be made so that everyone could trust them. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari would have to play a role in bringing all political parties to a single point. Referring to the reports of the 28th constitutional amendment, he said that it was merely discussions in the media.

Meanwhile, Bilawal said the economic conditions in Pakistan could be gauged by asking ordinary citizens about their financial situation. Referring to the possible solution to the prevailing economic crises, he stated that public-private partnerships were the most suitable way forward.
