Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan directed to upgrade the overall quality of Driving License according to the international standards considering the recommendations of experts from PITB. He also directed to increase the size of picture of the cardholder and other credentials like the name should be bolder to give the cards a more appealing look.
He further said that there should be legal provision for recording the history of traffic violations on the license so that when needed, driver’s record can be easily accessed. He expressed these views while giving directions to the officers during a meeting held today at the Central Police Office.
In meeting DIG IT Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Traffic Punjab Dr Akhtar Abbas, CTO Lahore Capt (R) Liaqat Malik, SSP Traffic Headquarters Ammara Athar and other senior officers were present. During meeting suggestions to further improve the Driving License were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, IG Punjab directed officers that up-gradation of driving licence according to contemporary needs are the need of the hour, so after considering all aspects, a new design should be finalized according to a comprehensive strategy which must also be linked to a computerized database under an integrated system.
IG Punjab also laid emphasis to consider the feedback from field offices to prepare a final license in its best form. He also directed to present a sample licence in next meeting so that after finalization it can be implemented in all districts across the province.
