ISLAMABAD – The Federal government and Jamiat Ulame-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman once again held an important meeting on Madaris Bill at the Prime Minister office, the sources close to the development said on Friday.
“Maulana Fazlur Rehman has once again taken up the matter of Madaris Bill with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” said the sources.
Maulana Ghafoor Haideri, Kamran Murtaza, Rana Sanaulllah and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar are also part of the meeting. NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar were also present there.
The sources said that the JUI-F chief would brief the prime minister about his consultation with the Ulema [religious scholars] regarding the Madaris Bill
“Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reached the Prime Minister Office to hold meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” .
This is the first meeting between the government and the JUI-F chief after Maulana Fazlur Rehman warned to launch a massive movement if their demands are not met. He had earlier objected to the return of the bill from the President House.
“If all other laws have been approved then why Madaris Bill has been returned,” said Maulana Fazl, adding that the bill became law after the president refused to sign it.
He argued that former President Alvi returned a bill but later it transpired that it became law.
The sources reveled that if the government and the JUI-F could not reach any consensus on the said bill then there is likelihood that the JUI-F would be on the roads to stage protest.
“Today’s meeting may be the last meeting as the JUI-F will launch protest against the government if their demands are not met regarding registration of the Madaris,” said the sources.
