ISLAMABAD – A Gem and Jewelry City will be established in Islamabad, the federal ministry of Industries and production decided on Wednesday.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee on Precious Stones, which held in Islamabad with Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain in the chair.
It was also decided to establish an authority for the effective use of precious stones.
Besides, the meeting agreed to set up a Gemstone Export Processing Center as well as to facilitate foreign investment in the gemstone sector.
Additionally, Gemstone and Jewelry Centers will be established at international airports.
Federal Ministers Aleem Khan, Jam Kamal Khan, relevant secretaries, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
