DUBAI – Shahzaib Khan’s match-winning 159 powers Pakistan to clinical victory over India in U19 Asia Cup being held in UAE on Saturday.

Khan’s impeccable 159 runs powered Men in Green to 44-run win over arch-rivals India in ACC U19 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 281-7 in their 50 overs. Shahzaib was the star of the innings, playing a brilliant knock of 159 runs from 147 balls, which included five boundaries and ten sixes.

Khan’s efforts were complemented by a solid 130-run opening partnership with Usman Khan, who made 60 runs off 94 balls. Despite some quick wickets falling towards the end, including that of Muhammad Riazullah (27), Pakistan’s total proved to be enough.

Chasing not so easy target, India set off in pursuit of target but was bowled out for 237 in 48.3 overs. Pakistan’s pacers put in a disciplined performance, with Ali Raza claiming three scalps, while Abdul Subhan and Faham-ul-Haq took two wickets each.

Boys in Green surge was not enough to close the gap, with Samarth Nagaraj and Ayush Mhatre taking three and two wickets, respectively.

With latest win in U19, Pakistan moves forward to their next game against United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 2.
