Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) has joined hands with Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to restructure the JPMC’s Basic Medical Sciences Institute (BMSI) building on Health Minister DrAzraPechuhu’s recent announcement to establish a research institute for health sciences.

She had announced this in JSMU’s 6th Senate meeting last month.Vice Chancellor JSMU Professor AmjadSirajMemon highlighted the Sindh Health Minister Dr. AzraPechuho’s vision while announcing the restructuring of JPMC’s Basic Medical Sciences Institute in a recently held MoU ceremony between JPMC and JSMU. Vice Chancellor Memon appreciated the cooperation of JPMC’s Executive Director Professor ShahidRasul and Professor Tariq Mehmood in finalizing the plan and the MoU.

This collaboration aims to restructure BMSI, which was established by JPMC as its research and postgraduate education arm focused on advancing knowledge in the basic medical sciences, into a School of Postgraduate Studies offering programs in basic and clinical sciences, as well as allied health sciences under JSMU’s academic framework.

“This partnership between JPMC and JSMU will greatly enhance the educational and research capabilities of the Basic Medical Sciences Institute. By integrating BMSI into JSMU’s academic framework, we will be able to offer comprehensive postgraduate programs that will develop the next generation of healthcare professionals and advance medical research in the region” said by Executive Director JPMC Professor ShahidRasool.Under the 25-year agreement, JSMU will assume administrative and academic control of BMSI. JSMU will oversee all functions of BMSI, including hiring faculty and staff, managing new admissions, and providing histopathology and microbiology lab services in alignment with the academic and research needs of the institute.
