Zia Rasheed, Pakistan’s tallest man who stood at 8 feet tall (244cm), died aged 30 after years-long illness.

The tallest man in Asian nation passed away on Tuesday in his hometown Vehari. His funeral prayer was attended by huge number of people, including noted social and political figures.

He became tallest man in country at the tender age of 15. Later, he began suffering from a leg-related illness, which caused him significant discomfort.

It has been learnt that Zia never received proper medical treatment, while Pakistani government did not provide him with necessary care. The condition of Pakistani giant worsened over time as he got no resources to travel abroad for better medical facilities.

Zia also suffered fall from stairs, which further aggravated his illness. After years of struggles, he succumbed to the illness on June 2, 2024.

He had normal childhood until a growth spurt at 12 due to a pituitary gland malfunction. This condition, causing excessive growth hormone production, led to his extraordinary height.
