CHINA has once again demonstrated that it is sincere and committed friend of Pakistan by offering much-needed cooperation and assistance in its fight against Corona Virus. Vice Minister of China’s National Health Commission Zeng Yixin announced on Thursday that Chinese medical experts would work closely with the health authorities of Pakistan and provide assistance and expertise in their fight against the Corona Virus pandemic. As the disease has engulfed the entire world, every country is engaged in a war of survival and finding it difficult to spare manpower or resources to help others out. However, China is an exception as our great neighbour has not just successfully overcome the threat but is extending wholehearted cooperation to several other countries in coping with the situation and saving precious lives. Chinese leadership demonstrated utmost sense of responsibility by not pushing nationals of other countries out of their country as is being done by majority of states these days. Instead China sent a reassuring message to Pakistan that its students and nationals are in safe hands and they would get same facilities as Chinese nationals as far as precaution and treatment are concerned. China immediately shared therapeutic and prevention protocols with Pakistan when COVID-19 hit the country and now its medical team would practically work with Pakistani doctors to mitigate sufferings of the people. Doctors are in the forefront of the war against the virus but they were doing so at risk of their lives in the absence of protective kit and equipment. Thanks to China, a consignment of kits and quality masks has already landed in Pakistan for distribution among doctors and paramedical staff. Similarly, ventilators are in high demand all over the world and here again China has committed to provide over thousand machines on an emergent basis. Beijing has also shown its commitment to progress and development of Pakistan by sending back its engineers and technicians to work on CPEC projects despite precarious situation in Pakistan. All these gestures would help further solidify multidimensional relationship between the two countries.
