With the festive occasion of Eid just around the corner, the district administration of Attock has issued a stern warning to transporters against overcharging holidaymakers traveling to their hometowns to celebrate with family and friends.

Eid, a time when families reunite to celebrate, often sees an influx of travelers heading towards their native towns. However, this joyous occasion is sometimes marred by unscrupulous practices of public transport drivers who exploit the surge in demand by charging exorbitant fares, far exceeding the officially set rates.

To curb this exploitation, a proactive crackdown has been initiated by the district administration. Led by Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza and District Police Officer Sardar Ghias Gull Khan, a team comprising officials from various departments including the Regional Transport Authority and Traffic Police, visited the main bus stand to ensure compliance with regulations.

During their visit, officials interacted with passengers, gathering firsthand accounts of fare discrepancies. Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza emphasized the importance of adhering to official fare lists, warning transporters and bus terminal management of strict repercussions for non-compliance.

Transporters were unequivocally instructed to desist from artificially creating a shortage of buses and to adhere strictly to the officially notified fares. Failure to comply would result in the cancellation of licenses, with no exceptions made.

In light of these measures, the district administration aims to ensure that holidaymakers can travel to their hometowns for Eid celebrations without falling prey to exploitative pricing practices. The crackdown serves as a testament to the administration’s commitment to protecting the rights and interests of the public, particularly during festive occasions when travel is prevalent.
