If you are planning to visit Europe and need a Schengen visa, you need to pay revised fees from June 2024 as Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs announced the hike citing several factors including inflation.

As per the announcement, the cost for Adult applicants will increase from €80 to €90, and for children aged six to twelve, the fee will go up from €40 to €45.

Countries outside EU will be paying higher fees of €135 or €180 after June 11, 2024. EU linked fee hike with soaring inflation and rise in salaries for public workers.

The increased visa fees are to come into force from June 11, an announcement by Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs said.

Schengen Visa Fee Update 2024

Category Current Fee New Fee
Adults €80 €90
Children (6-12) €40 €45
Non-EU nations €135 Up to €180

The fee adjustments stem from the latest review of EU visa fees in December last year, a process scheduled every three years according to the Schengen Visa Code. EU justifies the fee hike by citing the need to accommodate inflation and civil servant salaries.

An International Air Transport Association report suggests that higher EU visa fees might negatively impact travel affordability and potentially affect the economies of EU member states by discouraging travel and reducing travel volumes.
