Continuous torrential rains since Friday coupled with snowfall in the mountainous regions have wreaked havoc on Chitral Valley, particularly affecting the communication system and livelihoods of residents in Chumurkun village. The relentless downpour triggered floods in various streams, leading to the closure of several valleys due to landslides and falling boulders. As a result, vital routes, including the only land connection between Chitral and other parts of the country at Lawari tunnel, remain impassable. Upper Chitral, Lutkoh, and Kalash Valley are also cut off from the rest of the region.

The onslaught of nature has not spared the infrastructure within Chumurkun village itself. The floodwaters washed away crucial links such as a pedestrian bridge, a vital irrigation channel, a water supply scheme, and a link road, leaving residents stranded and severely disrupting daily life.
