Islamabad, Pakistan weather update for weekend

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan during weekend.

According to the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

A westerly wave is still affecting northern parts of the country.

Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Friday night and the next two days.

However, rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Friday night.

Smog/fog is likely in upper Sindh, plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning hours.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature is likely to remain between 06-08 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 05-07 C on Sunday.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature is likely to remain between 09-11 C on Saturday and 07-09 C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.

However, rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over mountains occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Balakot 16, Kalam and Saidu Sharif 11, Dir (Upper & Lower 10), Malam Jabba 07, Kakul, Pattan 03, Chitral, Drosh 01

Gilgit-Baltistan: Bagrote, Chilas, Gilgit and Hunza 01

Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan where mercury dropped 06 C below the freezing point.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 07 C.

Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 10 C.

Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 52 per cent.
