Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), while strongly condemning a news report published by a Jammu based daily newspaper, has termed it as a vicious attempt to tarnish the public image of the party and its chairman Shabbir Ahmed Shah.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the DFP spokesman, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that the newspaper Early Times’ poorly worded story was highly speculative, lacking truth and accuracy.
“Casting aspersions on the patriotism of a man who had to spend more than half of his life in Indian jails and interrogation centers is tantamount to spitting in the sky”, he said, adding that the rumor mongers in the media must bear in mind the fact that Shabbir Ahmed Shah is the man who has honestly followed the diktats of none but his own conscience.
The spokesman said freedom of Kashmir is the sole motto of Shah’s life and never budged an inch from his stand on the Kashmir dispute. While referring to the incarcerated party Chairman’s unflinching faith in the freedom struggle, he said Shabbir Shah has made it clear that the colonial-era tactics like banning his party, sealing party offices, attaching properties, arresting party workers or imposing sanctions on political activities won’t deter him from pursuing the noble cause for which Kashmiris have rendered unprecedented sacrifices.—KMS
