OPPONENTS of Usman Buzdar either in the opposition or within the ruling party often criticize him of being not very active and not fit for the job of the Chief Minister. He indeed is a sheer gentleman and a non-traditional Chief Minister who does not like self-projection and promotion but as Prime Minister Imran Khan has always thrown his weight behind him, he is really on the move now and we are confident that it is his work that will speak for itself.
Chairing a meeting of the elected representatives in Lahore the other day, Usman Buzdar said that the number of model police stations will be enhanced in the province whilst justice will be ensured in the distribution of development budget. It really goes to the credit of the CM that soon after assuming office, he ring-fenced the provincial budget, which means that no area especially the neglected ones will be ignored in the development expenditure. This is the reason that the South Punjab received a lot of attention and unprecedented funds were spent for the improvement of health and education infrastructure in the hitherto neglected region. In just one year, the first technical varsity was set up in Dera Ghazi Khan which has already opened its doors for admission. Provision of Sehat Insaf Cards and upgradation of health facilities in South Punjab are other feathers to his {distinguished} cap. It indeed is imperative to ensure equal distribution of development funds so that no area or region is left behind. Then, there is need to improve the infrastructure especially sewerage and sanitation facilities in the rural areas of Punjab. We are confident that following the vision of PM Imran Khan, the CM will also pay special attention towards this end. As regards establishment of more model police stations, we understand that upgrading only a few police stations will not bring worthwhile change in the overall governance system. There is a need to completely transform all the police stations equipped with all the modern day facilities. Sufficient funds should be allocated to each police station so that they could discharge their duties without resorting to any corrupt practices.
