The President of Chitral Development Moment (CDM), a civil society organization working for the construction and development of roads in Chitral, Waqas Ahmed Advocate lauded top military and civil leadership for holding a grand Jirga and listening to the problem of the people of Chitral. The President of CDM and members of the social society thanked Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Corps Commander Peshawar, IGFC North, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Commissioner and RPO for showing interest in resolving the problem of the people of Chitral.

Holding of grand Jirga is a morale-boosting for the people of this neglected district, he said. Addressing a press conference at the Chitral Press Club in the presence of Maulana Asraruddin Al Hilal, Sajidullah Advocate, Inayatullah Asir, Nisar Ahmed, Sher Zameen, Gul Muhammad and others, Waqas Ahmed Advocate said that after a failed attempt of TTP by entering into Chitral Valley, holding of grand Jirga and direct communication with the people as per the Army Chief’s orders will have far-reaching effects.

He said it is gratifying that Corps Commander Peshawar knows the details of the poor condition of roads and hospitals in Chitral valley which strengthens the hope that he can play his role in ending the backwardness of Chitral. The CDM President demanded the Corps Commander to play his role in ending the government’s discriminatory treatment of district Chitral, which is clearly visible looking at the condition of the approach road on the Chitral side of the Loweri Tunnel and the Boni Buzand Road in Upper Chitral, which are under construction since 2009.

He welcomed the announcement by the Corps Commander for the establishment of Cadet College and demanded the Chief Secretary and Commissioner Malakand to ensure the provision of land for this great project as soon as possible. Waqas Ahmed urged the tourists who are determined to visit Chitral without fear and danger where there is no law and order problem. He urged the non-local journalists to take guidance from the local journalists before writing on the sensitive topics.
