Rising cases of dengue, malaria posing great threat in Sindh

The malaria and dengue cases are rapidly increasing in Sindh and as many as 296,210 cases of malaria were reported from 30 districts of the province while 1,071 cases of dengue were reported during current year. Reportedly, more than 2,100 malaria cases were reported only in Karachi during the current year.

According to data collected from different hospitals of Sindh this year, 10,491 cases of malaria were reported from Shaheed Benazirabad, 72,431 cases reported from Mirpur Khas Division, 53,435 cases in Larkana division, 12,412 cases from Sukkur division and 145,341 malaria cases were reported from Hyderabad division.

As far as the dengue cases are concerned, about 1,071 dengue cases were reported in Sindh during one month after adding 16 new cases of dengue. As many as 875 patients of dengue were reported in Karachi, 120 patients in Hyderabad division, 36 in MirpurKhas, 17 in Larkana, 18 in Sukkur, and 5 in Benazirabad.

About 94 dengue cases were reported in Karachi in September only so far and as per report, in September, 51 cases have been reported in the eastern district, 16 in the southern district, and 12 in the central district, 7 in Korangi, and 4 ach in Malir and Kemari. However, no death due to dengue has been reported in Sindh this year.

On other hand, dengue fever is also on the rise in Lahore as 36 more cases of dengue have been reported in the last 24 hours. Whereas not less than 32 dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of the city.

Out of total 32, about 17 dengue patients are under treatment in government hospitals while 15 are in different private hospitals in the city. According to a report, as many as 861 larvae were fund in various areas in last 24 hours during surveillance.
