The Peshawar High Court has on Monday dismissed a senior civil judge from service on charges of misuse of powers. Three district and sessions judges have also been demoted and pensions of three retired judges have been suspended on similar charges. The show-cause notice issued to another judge has been taken back as allegations against him could not be proved.
According to notifications issued by the registrar of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), the action against the judges was taken in the light of the recommendations of the inquiry committee. Complaints were received against these judges over alleged misuse of powers and misconduct. The inquiry committee had presented its recommendations after scrutinising all the evidences and recording statements of all the parties.
According to the notifications, Senior Civil Judge Asghar Ali Salarzai has been dismissed from service after charges of were proven against him. Similarly, charges against District and Sessions Judges Sofia Waqar Khattak, Khursheed Iqbal and Muhammad Aamir Nazir were proven in the inquiry committee and they were demoted from their positions to additional district and sessions judges.
