5 suspects in maid Fatima murder case released

Police in Ranipur, Khairpur have released five people on Sunday who were being interrogated in the alleged rape and murder case of 10-year-old Fatima Furiro, who used to workas a maid; however, Hina Shah, wife of main suspect in the case PirAsad Shah, and her father Fayyaz Shah are still at large.

SHO Ranipur, head muharrar, two doctors and a peon have been released on bail after remaining in police custody for eight days Police said they were set free after they gave to the investigation team, formed by the DIG, proofs of their innocence.

On the other hand, prime suspect PirAsad Shah has been on physical remand for the last 10 days. Police have said all those released could again be summoned for questioning whenever the need arises.

The barbaric act came to light around 10 days ago after a video of the child went viral in which she could be seen lying on a floor after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by PirAsad Shah. The girl eventually lost her life due to torture as confirmed by videos showing signs of torture on her body. The incident caused countrywide outrage and even made headlines in international publications.—INP
