Following the special directions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad Capital Police took robust measures to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the Independence Day celebrations, a police public relations officer said. He said that, with a focus on curbing dangerous driving practices and ensuring smooth traffic flow, the Islamabad Capital Police issued challan tickets to over 4,000 individuals involved in one-wheeling, under age and rash driving. Additionally, more than 400 motorcycles and vehicles were impounded at various police stations across the city. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer said that the Islamabad Capital Police undertook stringent actions to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and prevent accidents during the festive occasion.
The initiative aimed at creating a secure environment for residents to commemorate the nation’s Independence Day without compromising public safety, he added.
He further said that specialized teams were deputed at important
boulevards and highways within the city. These teams actively enforced traffic regulations, promptly addressing any violations of the law.
