In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was again closed, today, for vehicular traffic due to shooting stones in Banihal area of Ramban district in Jammu region.

The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the world, was opened briefly a day ago.

Earlier, the highway had remained closed for two days in a row due to shooting stones and mudslides triggered by rain at several places between Chanderkot and Banihal before opening briefly on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway has led to shortage of mutton in the Kashmir Valley. In Srinagar, non-availability of mutton was reported from several areas.

Stakeholders associated with the mutton trade attributed the shortage of mutton in markets due to the highway shutdown.
