ICT police decides to constitute special squad to nab, fine signal violators

The capacity and surveillance of the Safe City Islamabad is being extended to Noor Khan Airbase Rawalpindi, a police public relations officer said on Sunday. He said that, in the first phase, 50 new hi-tech cameras installations were approved by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in order to enhance capacity building of the Safe City Islamabad project.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan has directed the officials that all cameras should be activated within 24 hours, he further said.

The Islamabad Capital Police is always engaged to maintain law and order in the federal capitals, by adding that crackdown against criminal elements have been intensified in order to eliminate crime from the city. Safety of lives and property of citizens are among the top priorities, he maintained.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Capital Police high-ups have decided to constitute special squads for action against signal violators

The ICT Police has decided to accelerate efforts to ensure implementation of traffic laws and take strict action against those involved in violation of red-signal, the police public relations officer further said.

He said that following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad capital police have decided to assign a task to the traffic congestion unit for taking stern action against those violating red signals while additional squads would be constituted for the purpose.

A special campaign is underway to check violations while various squads are performing duties at main roads and boulevards of the city and taking action against the violators.

According to the Chief Traffic officer Islamabad efforts are underway to ensure a disciplined traffic system in the city and he also appealed to the citizens to follow the traffic rules in order to maintain the smooth flow of traffic in the city.

He said that Islamabad capital police personnel have been directed to ensure implementation on traffic rules and regulation irrespective of status and rank and demonstrate patience and politeness while issuing traffic violation tickets to the road users.

He further said that the Islamabad capital police is utilizing all available resources to facilitate the general public. The force issues traffic violation tickets not as a punitive measure but the purpose is to ensure a safe road environment in the Capital and secure the lives of the people. The Chief Traffic officer Islamabad also directed the education wing to give awareness to the road users about traffic laws. He also directed the Islamabad capital police FM Radio 92.4 to air special programs in this regard.
