The In-charge Investigation Sub-Inspector posted in Saddar Okara Police Station was arrested over allegedly raping a woman. The accused sub-inspector was arrested on the orders of DPO Hassan Iqbal after a preliminary investigation.
The widow of retired police ASI Rafi appeared before DPO Okara and alleged in her complaint that Hamid Rashid, a sub-inspector posted at Saddar Okara police station, raped her. The victim appeared before DPO Okara seeking her medical examination for the court and had filed a complaint against the accused officer for the abuse.
It is pertinent to mention that the victim’s daughter had been abducted, with the case being investigated by the Okara police station. The girl was eventually recovered.The victim told DPO Hassan Iqbal that the accused took her to his house, under the pretext of attending a raid to rescue her abducted daughter. When they reached the house, the accused allegedly rendered her unconscious and proceeded to rape her throughout the night. The next day, the accused allegedly raped the victim again under the same false pretense of joining him on a raid. According to the victim, the accused threatened her into silence.
In this regard, the victim had also obtained a court order to get a medical examination done. On the orders of DPO Hassan Iqbal, the victim was sent to hospital.
DPO Iqbal arrested Sub-Inspector Rashid on the spot after a preliminary investigation and a case was registered against him under Section 376 PPC in Saddar Police Station.DPO Iqbal said that in addition to the medical examination of the victim, a DNA test will also be conducted. If rape is proven through either the medical exam or DNA, departmental action will be taken along with strict legal action.
