An anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Wednesday accepted the application filed by President Arif Alvi, in which he had conveyed to the court that he wanted to waive the immunity from prosecution granted to him by the constitution.
The court will now give its decision on the acquittal pleas filed by the president as well as other Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including some federal ministers, in the parliament attack case, on March 15, 2022.
A few days ago, President Alvi had gone to the ATC and conveyed to it that he did not want to avail the facility of immunity in the case because after studying Islamic jurisprudence he had reached the conclusion that it is un-Islamic.
