ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) announced on Monday that it would stage an “anti-inflation march” in Islamabad on March 23, 2022, Pakistan Day, to protest against the failure of government’s policies on various fronts.
PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman talking to media made the announcement after holding a meeting with heads of the allied parties.
He reiterated that the government was facing failures as it had come into power by rigging the 2018 general elections.
He said that the opposition alliance will hold a massive demonstration for which people will come to Islamabad from all parts of the country. He added that the march will be held against rising inflation and unemployment.
He said PDM will hold meetings at a provincial level to formulate a strategy for the march. Fazlur Rahman said that he will chair a meeting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan’s (JUP) Awais Noorani will head meetings in Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh, respectively.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has termed the PDM’s decision to hold a march on Pakistan Day an “extremely irresponsible and immoral”.
He said that the armed forces hold a national parade on March 23 which is attended by citizens, ambassadors and various delegates.
یوم پاکستان کو عوام کے نام پراحتجاج اور خلفشار کے دن کے طور پر اجاگر کرنا پی ڈی ایم کا ملک مخالف قوتوں کی خدمت کرنے کے مترادف ہے۔

He highlighted that some roads are closed days before the parade due to security reasons.
