Mukesh warns of stern action against property tax defaulters

Sindh Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has decided to take stern action against property tax defaulters.

This was decided in a meeting, chaired by Sindh Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs & Food Mukesh Kumar Chwala. Secretary ET & NC Department Raja Khurram Shehzad Umer, Director Generals Muneer Ahmed Zardari, Haji Saleem Bhutto, Director Property Taxes- I Ms. Samina Bhutto and other officers also attended the meeting.

Chwala directed the officers concerned to expedite the work on property tax collection. Samina Bhutto briefed the minister regarding measures taken for collection of property tax. She said that computerized challan forms had been issued and five percent relief would be given to those who deposited their property tax till 30th September, while a massive media campaign would be launched to motivate the property tax defaulters to deposit their taxes to avoid any untoward situation.

Chwala directed to take stern action against chronic big property tax defaulters and seal their shops, houses and other belongings in case they did not deposit their taxes. He warned the property tax defaulters that their properties might be auctioned if they failed to deposit their due taxes.

The minister also directed to constitute special teams consisting of good officers for the recovery of property taxes but they should take action living in legal frame work. He expressed his hope that such initiatives would bring good results.
