In view of the alarming increase in the number of corona cases, the district administration declared 13 areas of the provincial metropolis as sensitive.

Amid all these exercises to contain the spread of corona, the administration has failed to ensure implementation of SOPs in these areas including in Johar Town L Block area.

According to sources, due to severity of the fourth corona wave in the City, smart lockdown has been imposed in some areas to control the rising positive cases. However, despite the smart lockdown, SOPs are not being followed in some areas.

Though the administration has imposed smart lockdown, no police check-post has been set up for monitoring in any area, neither any deployment of police personnel or any other relevant department has been made to implement the smart lockdown.

On the other hand, the federal government has imposed some restrictions to minimise the fourth wave spread.

The NCOC has also imposed new restrictions including two days closure of businesses a week, closure of markets and shopping centres by 8pm and offices will remain operational with 50% attendance.

Similarly, the wheel of public transport will run with 50% capacity, indoor dining in restaurants is completely banned while outdoor dining is allowed till 10pm. However, takeaway service will be available round the clock.

It is to be noted that 67 more people have lost lives due to coronavirus in the past 24 hours across the country. The total number of deaths due to corona has reached 23,529 across the country.
