Cess Committee approves 10 road schemes

The District Sugar Cane Development Cess Committee has approved 10 schemes of construction, repair and rehabilitation of roads in different Sugar Mills areas of the district at a cost of Rs126 million from Sugar Cess Funds.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed in detail the road construction and repair schemes in the areas of Sugar Mills and said that immediate steps should be taken to further departmental action on the approved projects and no scheme should be stalled.

He said that representatives of Sugar Mills management should be present in the meeting of the committee and only schemes of public need should be presented for approval.

He cleared that transparency should be ensured in this regard. He also stressed on planting trees in the available places around the roads.

He clarified that if there is any administrative or technical obstacle in any place, bring it to his notice immediately so that timely steps could be taken.

During the meeting, the matters of approval of road rehabilitation projects in the areas of Two Star Sugar Mills, Tandlianwala Sugar Mills, Hussain, Rasool Nawaz and Chinar Sugar Mills were reviewed.

DD Development Tahir Iqbal, officers of different departments and representatives of Sugar Mills were also present.
