LG Secretary Najam Shah sees better days ahead

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary Local Government, Housing and Town Planning Sindh Syed Ahmad Shah on the performance of ongoing World Bank projects regarding water supply in the city in which Administrator Karachi, Secretary Planning and Development, MD Water Board and Vice Chancellor NED University were also present.

During the meeting, Najam Shah was briefed on the performance and pace of the ongoing project KWSSIP in collaboration with the World Bank. Talking to the meeting participants on the occasion, Najam Shah said that the Government of Sindh has paid special attention to various projects in collaboration with the World Bank for the convenience and facilities of the people of the province.

The real purpose is to transfer the benefits to the people. According to Najam Shah, all the residential and industrial areas of Karachi are entitled to uninterrupted water supply and the Sindh Local Government Department is working hard to fulfill this mission without any hindrance.

The LG Secretary said that the Sindh government believes in spending all the grants received from the World Bank in a completely honest and professional manner for the welfare and betterment of the people of the province. The struggle must continue until the mission of public facilitation is fulfilled.

Giving special instructions, Najam Shah said that the real benefits of all ongoing projects can be transferred to the people only when every officer will devote himself for the cause. Najam Ahmed Shah instructed to implement transparency in the selection of all experts and consultant firms according to WB guidelines.

He stressed that the process of consultation with the World Bank should be continued on a regular basis and all legal and ethical requirements should be reviewed in detail before taking any decision.
