Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former prime minister Ch Shujat Hussain Wednesday urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to show some mercy to poor and bar the departments from snatching the livelihoods of poor.
Lamenting the death of a poor shopkeeper during an operation by the Auqaf department and municipality in Gujrat, he said there are no jobs available for people and businesses, which are already being run with difficulty, are also being snatched.
He urged Prime Minister Khan to take notice of this situation to put a halt to this indiscrimination.
He said in Punjab, including Gujrat, many people have died and several injured, as their livelihood is being snatched. Ch Shujat said these people are doing their business here since the establishment of Pakistan but Auqaf Department and municipality have demolished shops of the poor and during the operation a shopkeeper died of shock. He said rest of shopkeepers are also in the same condition and the government should have mercy on the poor and do not get curses from the people.
Ch Shujat questioned now who will look after the children of the poor shopkeeper. He said that this matter will also be raised in the assemblies.
