Governor Sindh Imran Ismail while addressing a joint press conference with Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar at Governor House has said that we are very thankful to Governor Punjab and his team for extending a helping hand to support rain-affected people. Their gesture would go a long way in cementing provincial harmony and strengthen the federation, he added. The Governor Sindh further said that under their plan one lac ration bags would be distributed to people in need while 10,000 families would also be provided easy installment loans up to Rs 100,000/-. This cause in very noble and people of Sindh are thankful to them from core of their hearts, he remarked. He said that recent heavy rains have affected every part of Sindh province, but the focus of media remained at Karachi due to the importance of it being economic hub of Pakistan. The devastation in other parts of the province was not highlighted as much as that of Karachi, he added. Replying to a question,Mr Imran said that to identify and take action against the culprits involved in encroachments over drains and filling them with garbage was the responsibility of provincial Government. Federal Government want to help Sindh government and Karachi Transformation Plan (KTP) has been prepared in this regard which would be unveiled by Prime Minister during his coming visit to Karachi, he added. The Governor Sindh said that in 22 years as politician he as never witnessed such a serious effort to revamp infrastructure of Karachi. The Karachi Transformation Plan is the most sincere, compact and dedicated initiative in this regard, he added. He said that KTP would has been prepared in consultation with all stakeholders of our megapolis and the same would be implemented and executed with their cooperation. Federal Government was bent upon improving infrastructure of whole province and separate plans are being prepared for other areas of Sindh, he added. He said that we all have to work jointly to make Karachi city of lights again and must leave all political differences and party affiliation behind us to return Karachi to its glorious past. Replying to a question about appointment of an Administrator for Karachi, Governor Sindh said that it is the mandate of the committee headed by Federal Minister P&D Mr. AsadUmer and Federal Ministers Mr. Ali Zaidi, Mr. Amin ulHaq, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial Ministers Mr. SaeedGhani and Syed NasirHussain Shah are part of this committee. An honest and competent person would be selected and appointed by the committee as Administrator of KMC so as to ensure transparency in execution of KTP for the betterment of Karachi as it was the due right of Karachiites to experience state of the art basic amenities of life at their doorstep, he added. Governor Punjab Chudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that Prime Minister was very worried about Karachi and he was personally monitoring the situation on daily basis. Ration bags of over Rs. 30 million would be distributed amongst affected persons, he added. The Governor Punjab said that he would do his utmost to provide relief to affectees of other districts of Sindh also and he would visit Badin tomorrow with Governor Sindh to monitor the situation and distribute relief goods. He said that he visited head office of Dawat-i-Islami and Saylani Trust and was very much impressed by their philanthropic activities in various fields. We would try to bring together various NGOs working in Punjab and Sindh to ensure maximum benefits to the masses in Sindh, he added.
