4500 police personnel deployed on security of VVIPs

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moazzam Jah Ansari on Thursday disclosed that about 4500 police personnel have been deployed on the security of the VVIPs alone in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, adding that 50 policemen were performing duty at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence while 60 policemen have been deployed at Bani Gala.

Speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ program at Peshawar Press Club, the IGP said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa policemen were deployed at Bani Gala and Zaman Park on the request of the Punjab police. He said that about 110 police personnel were performing their duties outside of the province. When asked about calling back police personnel from Zaman Park and Bani Gala, the IGP said that the as they were deployed under legal procedure, therefore, if he was asked to call back them under legal procedure, then they will be called back to the province.

He said that province has 129000 police force, adding that 32 police stations have been established in Peshawar. About extortion calls, the IG said that whatsapp is being used for most of the extortion calls, adding that the provincial police has appealed to the federal government for cooperation.
