Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid wished happy New Year to the nation here on Saturday.
The Health Minister said that the Health Department shall continue to serve the people under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
She said a great gift from Prime Minister Imran Khan has been given to the nation in the form of Naya Pakistan Qomi Sehat card for 31 million families of Punjab.
She said that revolutionary steps were taken in the health department in 2021 and the journey shall continue in 2022.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid said, “In the year 2022 we will complete 650 bedded state of the art Mother and Child Hospital. Most ongoing projects shall be completed in this year. We started the largest Corona vaccination campaign in 2021.
Our vaccination campaign was appreciated by the NCOC. We made record hiring and promotions in the year 2021. In the first phase of the Reach Every Door campaign 14 million people were vaccinated.
In the second phase of RED Corona vaccination campaign another 26.7 million people will be vaccinated. The state of the art Neonatology unit was started at Mayo hospital. Punjab did not report a single polio case. In Measles Rubella campaign 48 million children were immunized. We achieved coverage targets in EPI.
We reached an agreement with WHO for strengthening family planning services in 10 districts. We took responsibility to improve Data Darbar hospital. The starting of the University of Child Health Sciences is a milestone in history.
The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplants Authority performed record transplants. A mehman Khana and new canteen started work at Jinnah Hospital. A new office of Punjab Mental Health Authority was set up to improve functioning for improved service delivery.
The new Thoracic Surgery Unit was started at Mayo Hospital. Hiring of 25000 new positions in the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. In the year 2021 online system of drug sale licensing was introduced.
A Task force was set up to control genetic disorders. The year 2022 shall bring the dawn of a new era. The Naya Pakistan Qomi Sehat card is a historical step towards provision of quality health services.
