Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani said even after the first spell of monsoon rain my teams are in the state of emergency and vigilant to address water level and the city cleanliness. Talking to the Pakistan Observer, Commissioner Karachi said that he is close to the citizens of Karachi through social media and during his visit to rain hit areas, the public concerns were registered and the deputy commissioners were advised to sort the issues.
Iftikhar Shallwani said that there were certain complaints regarding garbage collection,” I have asked the solid waste management to send the report to the letters office”, even after the monsoon spell, we have another task to fulfill and that is Eid-ul Azha, not only DCs but the KMC and all concerned departments are in a loop to deliver their duties during eid days”, Commissioner said. Upon query on electrocution incidents in Karachi during the monsoon rain, the Commissioner Karachi said that the incidents were being reported and concerned departments are directed to compile comprehensive report and whoever even the departments found behind incidents will be dealt lawfully. Iftikhar Shallwani said, “We are answerable to the public and our sins, and as public servant, I will deliver if it comes to visit slums or Nallas to resolve common man problems”, he said.
Commissioner Karachi believes on self-accountability, said that I am blessed with sincere officers those are hard to find. It is pertinent to mention here that Iftikhar Shallwani have made Arial visit of Karachi to monitor the water flow situation at Lath dam to Malir riverside where population of the area might be affected due to overflowing water on road. One track was choked.
