World Water Week is observed on last week of August worldwide. With this reference WWF Pakistan in collaboration with University of Sialkot (USKT) on Monday organized awareness walk at Marala Head Works Sialkot to enhance awareness on water issues, risks and challenges with the theme of World Water Week 2018 is Water, Ecosystems and Human Development.
Adeel Younas, Senior Officer Freshwater Programmer WWF Pakistan added, the main objective of walk was to aware people and students about risk of water scarcity that a water stressed country like Pakistan is facing and how to conserve day by day depleting water resources. Also added stated that Pakistan is on the verge of being water scare country. Public need to take water conservation practices extremely serious.
He stated we also need to cut down our water usage in daily life to stop degradation of natural resource. Muhammad Javaid stated academic institution can play huge role in raising awareness among students and society to conserve the water. He stated Universities should emphasize environmental education in students in order to make them aware of pertaining challenges to environment which we need to mitigate jointly.
