Virat Kohli’s dismissal “surprised” bowler Moeen Ali’s family in England. Kohli had faced Jack Leach’s first four deliveries but the first he faced from spinner Moeen Ali took everyone, including captain himself, by surprise.

Moeen Ali had knocked over Kohli for a duck. The way Virat Kohli looked at the non-striker after getting bowled by Moeen Ali, it seemed that he wanted to take a review.

“It was a fantastic wicket. Could not believe it”, off-spinner Moeen Ali’s father, Munir Ali, who has been watching the matches on TV, said over the telephone.

This has been Kohli’s 11th duck in Test cricket. Interestingly, no bowler has grabbed Kohli’s wicket twice for zero, according to the renowned cricket statistician Mohandas Menon.

According to this statistician, the 11 different bowlers involved in Kohli’s Test ducks are : 1. R Rampaul, 2. B Hilfenhaus, 3. L Plunkett, 4. J Anderson, 5. M Starc, 6. S Lakmal, 7. S Broad, 8. P Cummins, 9. K Roach, 10. Aby Javed and 11. Moeen Ali. On four occasions he was dismissed off the first ball.
