USAID to continue uplift projects for development of rural areas, empowerment of backward classes: Mission Director

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director for Pakistan Julie A. Koenen called on Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at Islamabad Friday and discussed issues related to economic and political reforms and various projects.

Chairman Senate expressed his gratitude to the US Government for providing development assistance to Pakistan.

The Senate Chairman appreciated the steps taken by USAID for the development of the backward areas of Pakistan and said that Pakistan values its relations with the United States. The deep and strong partnership between Pakistan and the United States is mutually beneficial and important for peace, security and prosperity in the region.

The meeting emphasized the need to support the Afghan people in taking all possible steps to prevent humanitarian crisis and economic catastrophe in Afghanistan, and appreciated Pakistan’s cooperation in recent efforts to evacuate foreign nationals from Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul.
