UK visa system shifted online, allowing users to apply directly through the official GOV.UK website, complete forms, pay fees, and book biometrics without intermediaries.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan shared update, saying applicants can now complete the entire process online without relying on agents. Jane Marriott encouraged Pakistani citizens to apply directly through official channels, highlighting that the process is now designed to be straightforward and user-friendly.
Applicants are advised to begin by visiting the UK government’s official website, gov.uk, where they can select the option “Apply to come to the UK.”

The first step involves identifying the correct visa category. For most travellers, the Standard Visitor Visa is commonly used for tourism or visiting family and friends. Authorities note that applicants can submit their applications up to three months before their planned travel date.
The process is now fully digitised, replacing lengthy paper forms with a structured online application system. Applicants are required to provide details such as travel plans, financial information, and personal background. The system also allows users to save their progress and complete the form at their convenience.
Once the application is completed and the visa fee is paid, applicants must book a biometric appointment at their nearest Visa Facilitation Service Centre (VFS Global) for identity verification.
Officials say the streamlined procedure is aimed at making the UK visa process more transparent, accessible, and less dependent on intermediaries, enabling applicants to manage the entire process from home with ease.
