DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates has introduced a 30-day grace period for individuals who were previously exempted from visa overstay penalties due to earlier regional flight disruptions.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) stated that the grace period began on June 10, 2026, and will remain valid until July 9, 2026.

The move is intended to give eligible people a final chance to either regularise their residency status or leave the country without facing any fines.

Authorities explained that the decision comes after the return of regional stability, which brought an end to the exceptional conditions that had initially led to the suspension of overstay fines.

The ICP further clarified that beneficiaries do not need to submit any separate applications to benefit from this facility.

Individuals who plan to continue living or working in the UAE can use this period to adjust their legal status under the relevant procedures. Those who decide to exit the country may do so through normal departure channels without incurring penalties.

Earlier, in March 2026, the ICP had suspended overstay fines for those unable to leave the UAE due to airspace closures and flight suspensions that began on February 28, 2026. The relief covered visa holders, departure permit holders, and residents whose visas had been cancelled but who were unable to travel.
