LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 38 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Friday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 17 buildings in Model Town Extension and Faisal Town, 11 in Quaid-e-Azam Town, and 30 in the Government Superior Services Housing Scheme during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include The Educators, Unique College, Native Schools, Ilmgah School Systems, Zara Noor Makeup Studio, grocery stores, food outlets, workshops, offices, and other businesses.
LDA also demolished a building on the Canal Bank Road for violation of the bylaws.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police and heavy machinery.
According to LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
