Taliban purchases 350,000 tonnes of Iranian oil

According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Finance on Saturday, the Afghan delegation, on its visit to Iran, entered into a contract with an Iranian firm to purchase 350,000 tonnes of oil from the neighboring country of Iran. A high-ranking Afghan delegation of representatives from the Taliban’s Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Bank, Afghanistan Oil & Gas Corporation, and Afghanistan National Standard Authority visited Iran.

According to a statement from the Afghan Ministry of Finance, the high-ranking delegation had traveled to Iran to discuss oil purchases, rates, and the transit of petroleum products to Afghanistan. The delegation struck a contract with an Iranian company to buy 350,000 tonnes of oil.

The two parties held discussions on quality, rates, transit, and facilities for traders and came to an agreement to form a joint committee on building out the gas pipeline and constructing joint refineries. According to the Afghan Finance Ministry, the Afghan government imports 350 000 tonnes of petroleum from Iran in order to regulate and lower the price of fuel products in Afghanistan.
