PESHAWAR – Security forces are carrying out an intensive operation against three militants who took refuge inside Wana Cadet College following an attack on the institution, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The security sources said that the attackers are believed to have come from Afghanistan and were reportedly receiving instructions via phone during the assault. The militants are hiding in a building located far from the cadets’ residential area, making the operation delicate.
The sources said that fghan-linked militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the college’s main gate, causing it to collapse and damaging nearby buildings. In the immediate response, Pakistan Army personnel neutralized two militants.

The security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a decisive clearance operation, which will continue until the last militant is eliminated.
The authorities have urged parents to remain calm, assuring them that all students are safe and that the operation will be completed soon.
The incident highlights ongoing cross-border security challenges in the region and underscores the Pakistan military’s commitment to protecting educational institutions from militant threats.
