SC to see whether ECP can implement Article 62-1F

Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial on Tuesday said the Supreme Court has to see whether the Election Commission can apply Article 62-1F. His remarks came during the hearing of an appeal in Faisal awda disqualification case.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the appeal filed by Faisal Vawda. The Supreme Court ordered the lawyers to prepare arguments for the scope of the implementation of Article 62-1F.

The Chief Justice said that the invoking the Article 62-1F is a very serious issue. Vawda’s lawyer requested an early hearing on the appeal, which was rejected by the court.—NNI
