Punjab Invites More Chinese Investment To Boost Jobs Industrial Growth Shafay

Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Tuesday invited more Chinese companies to invest in the province, saying increased foreign investment would create additional employment opportunities for local people. He made the remarks during a meeting with Chinese Consul General Sun Yan at the Chinese Consulate in Lahore on Monday. The meeting focused on Chinese investment in Punjab, strengthening bilateral economic ties and expanding cooperation in various sectors.

The two sides discussed greater collaboration in information technology, electric vehicles, industry and agriculture. They also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in the local production of tractors, super seeders, harvesters and other agricultural machinery. Shafay Hussain said Punjab’s Special Economic Zones offered extensive opportunities for investors and noted that Chinese companies had already invested billions of rupees in different sectors across the province.

He said Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Vivo was launching chip-frame and mobile phone manufacturing in Pakistan for the first time. He added that several two-wheeler electric vehicle plants had been established in Punjab, while local manufacturing of lithium batteries and electric two-wheelers had also begun.
