Punjab Huawei Agree To Deepen Cooperation In Ai

Maryam seeks province-wide AI ecosystem spanning governance, cloud computing

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and senior executives of Huawei agreed to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital infrastructure, talent development and smart public services, with the shared ambition of making Punjab the “most AI-enabled province in South Asia.”

The understanding was reached during high-level strategic discussions held during the chief minister’s visit to China, where both sides explored a comprehensive roadmap for transforming Punjab into a technology-driven and AI-powered province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was accompanied by Advisor to the Chief Minister on Artificial Intelligence Ali Dar, along with provincial ministers and senior officials of the Punjab government.

The discussions marked a shift from individual technology projects towards the development of a province-wide AI and digital transformation ecosystem aimed at supporting economic growth, innovation, employment generation and more efficient delivery of public services.

A major focus of the talks was the development of secure and sovereign AI infrastructure in Pakistan, including stronger computing capabilities, cloud infrastructure and data-centre capacity. Huawei presented a proposed four-layer AI ecosystem encompassing digital infrastructure, AI capacity building, open and commercial AI models, and practical applications designed around Punjab’s governance and economic requirements.
