Inaugurates Multan electric bus service
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that Punjab has not deprived anyone of their rightful share, but has continued to provide resources to other provinces from its own allocation.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of electric bus service in Multan, she said criticism was being directed not at her personally but at Punjab’s development.
She defended the use of the official aircraft, saying the Rs9 billion plane belonged to the office of the Punjab chief minister and would not become her personal property.
Maryam said she had also visited flood victims by boat and noted that every chief minister had access to an official aircraft. She said she paid nearly Rs27.5 million from her own pocket for a flight to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony.
Maryam said the service, launched with 60 buses, would be free for students, women, elderly people and persons with disabilities, with electric buses also operating across Punjab without discrimination. She added that electric buses were operating up to Bariyan in Murree.
Maryam Nawaz said a high-tech cancer hospital had been inaugurated in Multan, offering free treatment, while a modern ma-chine capable of treating cancer without surgery within minutes had also been provided.
Speaking about law and order, she said she had taken action against gangsters despite threats of legal cases and would continue doing whatever was necessary for the people of Punjab. She made sure people’s lives, property, businesses and families were now safe in Punjab.
The chief minister also criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over recent political activities, saying some people had come to Punjab to launch an attack and the visit to Lahore had failed.
She said no chief minister’s visit was personal and that she would respond to criticism from YouTubers and vloggers through her performance.
The CM received a warm public welcome on Old Shujaabad Road, where thousands of children, youth, students and elderly people gathered to welcome her.
Meanwhile, the welcome for Maryam Nawaz in Multan took a spectacular turn, when an enthusiastic fan arrived with a staggering 100 maunds of flowers to shower on the chief minister. Citizens were seen gathered along the roads with flower petals to welcome Maryam Nawaz, while one enthusiastic supporter brought as much as 100 maunds of flowers for the occasion.
According to the citizen, he brought the flowers to express his happiness and affection for Maryam Nawaz. He said the chief minister was carrying out development work across Punjab and that he wanted to show his appreciation by showering flowers during her welcome.
